List Your Website in Links Portfolio

Posted by CJCM on 17th November 2006

Links Portfolio
I am very sure most of you have a website. One way to spread the news about your website is by listing it in as many web directories as possible so that you can reach wider audience. I have launched my web directory Links Portfolio barely over two months ago and the number of submission is quite encouraging.

Links Portfolio offers three options for listing:

1. Featured Listing (paid)
2. Regular Listing (paid)
3. Regular listing with reciprocal (free)

I am currently running a promotion for Links Portfolio.

Regular listings are currently free for first 200 submissions and as of today more than 100 slots have been taken. I am pretty sure it will run out sooner than I had thought, as Links Portfolio is now being promoted in quite a few places on the world wide web. The pace is really picking up.

I am also offering a 2-year Featured Listing for for the price of 1 year, which is really good deal.

Links Portfolio had been newly accepted as a member of ISEDN.org (Independent Search Engine and Directory Network).

Being The First Is Not Always Great.

Posted by CJCM on 14th November 2006

You wouldn’t want to be the first to be charged for ’stealing’ neighbour’s WiFi bandwidth, would you? Excuse me….stealing? Yes…meaning taking something belonging to someone else without permission…that’s why you can be charged in the court of law of a country.

The unfortunate incident happened in Singapore where the neighbour had reported to the police about the teenager taking free rides surfing the internet off the neighbour’s WiFi connection.

If found guilty under the Singapore’s Computer Misuse Act, Garyl Tan Jia Luo, 17, could face a possible fine of SGD10,000 or the three years in prison.

I wonder if the charge would hold any water because if you are using a WiFi router and does not secure your connection, which is standard feature in a WiFi and easily configured, everyone within your WiFi range can detect your signal and connect to the internet for free. I wonder how the court would respond to the lawyers from both sides.

You guys want to share how you would prosecute and/or defend this case?

The Death of Internet Marketing

Posted by CJCM on 14th November 2006

Do you remember the ‘The Death of Adsense and Life After Adsense’? That was really a succesfull viral marketing technique. Scott Boulch had actually wanted to promote his Click Flipping method using this viral marketing technique…so it wasn’t that bad for him. The response was overwhelming. For others, they got to know whether or not Adsense would die and a new method of earning money using Click Flipping, still for others it is just another way of earning some bucks….sounds like fun to me.

A lot of people promoted the e-Book to be downloaded free….actually they receive 50cents for each downloaded e-Book. Just that this time the price is USD1.00…. not bad for just promoting it on your web site.

So if you got nothing else to do (like when I am posting this … :) ), why not download the free e-Book and find out what the eBook is really all about…I haven’t read them…I will read it after this post :) . Who knows what Mike wants to offer you might be of some benefit and value.

After you download the eBook, then you can do the same by promoting the same eBook on your site or mailing list, and receive USD1 for each copy downloaded… you probably won’t earn that much but if you can earn just few bucks… it still fun… :)

New Firefox 2.0 is cool.

Posted by CJCM on 30th October 2006

FirefoxAre you still using IE for browsing the internet? Maybe its time to re-consider switching to Forefox 2.0, even as a standby browser in case your IE is playing up on you.

The latest Mozilla browser is so configurable you can tweak a lot of different settings to suit your needs.

You say you don’t like the new way to close tabs? Change them. You want Firefox to stop hogging your RAM? Reduce it. You want to save sessions when Firefox crashes? Save them.

External Examiner at University Technology Petronas

Posted by CJCM on 12th October 2006

I was at University Technology Petronas (UTP) yesterday as an External Examiner for Final Year IT Project. That was my third involvement as an External Examiner for UTP. I have also been involved in Adjunct Lecturer program at UTP, giving lectures to IT students on specialized topic
of IT Project Management.

Mobile Restaurant System

Yesterday’s session was very interesting. This semester’s projects evolved around Mobile commerce (M-commerce). I saw a lot of M-commerce projects by the final year students. Some of them had good potential to be commercialized.

The one I was really impressed with is a Mobile Restaurant System by Nguyen Kong Minh. His project is simply impressive. The system allows you to order your foods via your mobile phone or PDA. The part that I like most is the fact that Nguyen didn’t just use mobile phone emulator like other students. His project deliverable was shown on real PDA. And it worked flawlessly for the scopes identified in his project. It even integrates to a real SMS notification system.

Not only he impressed me with his project works. His test menu on the mobile system was also…needless to say…very mouth watering…bear in mind that we are in the fasting month of Ramadhan..he..he..he.

Other projects that deserve a mention here also include Grade Trekker System by Jamie Tan and Mobile Bank’s Turn Number Reservation System by Khairil Anuar Abdullah.

Congratulation to Nguyen and other students for their outstanding works. And many thanks to University Technology Petronas for inviting me as part of the External Examiners team this semester.

Me, Blogging, and Gadgetell

Posted by CJCM on 6th October 2006

Since I got involved with blogging…one of my past time activities on the net is…what else…reading blog. I came across a lot of different types of blog themes. I read personal blogs, gadget blogs, techology blogs, business blogs, make-money-online blogs, you name it..there are all kinds of blogs out there you can never read them all.

I recently saw an advertisement in ProBlogger for a Technology Blogger at Gadgetell, a consumer technology blog that regularly writes about, “Tech News, Reviews, and Interesting Things.” I checked it out and thought…why not give this one a try so I immediately shot an email to apply, referring them to this blog and PDAs Review as my ‘referees’.

To my surprise, within a week of my application, I received a “Welcome to the Gadgetell Team” reply from Doug Berger, the Editor at Gadgetell. I was floating in the air for a while….and landing to the ground a few moments later I realized that I have started a new chapter in my life.

I quickly replied to the email with all the necessary information requested by Doug and another few days went by. Yesterday, I finally received my login ID to Gadgetell with the instructions of how to post at Gadgetell.

I immediately work on my first posting and upon scouring the net, I stumbled upon a nice gadget that I like and thought why not feature this gadget in my first Gadgetell post. I searched for the device in Gadgetell and there was no post featuring this baby yet so I quickly spent the next thirty minutes on my maiden post.

The submitted post however must be approved by the Editor first so I was waiting anxiously to find out if they like my first post. Today when I visited Gadgetell, I couldnt be bothered to scroll down to see if my post was there, I just typed ‘iWear’ in the search box and hit enter. It took only a few seconds to show the results but I felt that must be the longest wait I have ever experienced for a search results to show.

Ta…taa…..there it was….the title “Grab attention with iWear for iPod Video” looked so familiar, still fresh in my mind because it was only yesterday I had worked on it.

I hope you enjoy this posting and will regularly join me at Gadgetell as well to find out what is the latest thing happening in the gadget world.

Thank you Gadetell for accepting me as one of your Technology Blogger.

Click Flipping, Life After Adsense

Posted by CJCM on 21st September 2006

So Scott finally released his second part of his e-book that discussed about The Death of Adsense.

I just downloaded the e-book. If you havent, click here to get it while it is still hot :)

According to Scott, Smart Pricing Killed Adsense. Period. So he came up with his own device called Click Flipping as an alternative to Adsense.

How does it works? Let Scott reveals it in his second chapter Life After Adsense.

Good luck to you…in the mean time I have to go back to Scott’s e-book to understand what the heck is this Click Flipping

Cheers..
